80’s Glam Rocker Child Costume Review from BuyCostumes.com

BuyCostumes.com has so many costumes. I’m sure there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for Halloween or for any other reason, you are bound to find what you are looking for! Who says it has to be Halloween to dress up?

For our review, I decided to let my daughter choose whatever costume she wanted. Her birthday is on Halloween, she turned nine years old this year. We receive costume catalogs in the mail year round so she already had an idea of what she wanted. When we got on BuyCostumes.com’s website, she went straight to the 80’s Glam Rocker Child Costume

The costume was great! It came with everything we really needed to complete the look. It included a vest, tattoo sleeve, top, belt, leggings, head tie and four buttons. They were sold out of the child regular sizes but she had her heart set on this costume. They did have five of the plus sized child costumes still available. So we got that in hopes we could make it work (even if grandma had to work some sewing magic).

At the last minute, we realized we didn’t have anything to create the star over one of her eyes. She wasn’t worried about it. I allowed her to wear some blue eye shadow and pink lip gloss. For her hair, we didn’t have a crimper or the talent to do what is shown on the girl modeling the costume. So we improvised. First, I braided little parts of her hair in random spots. (I know they are not perfect, they don’t need to be).

I had to show you the front. When I showed this to my hubby, the rest of our process went in one ear and right out the other. He assumed this is how she wore it all day. Did I mention, I got this idea from The Maven of Social Media? Thanks Kerri!

After I was finished braiding, I sprayed it with mark. Locks in Place Buildable Hold Hairspray. I sprayed it once, let it dry a little and sprayed it again.

When all the hairspraying was over, I took a flat iron and flat ironed each braid. I took my time because I wanted to be sure each braid got enough heat to keep the wave from the braid.

It was time for the braids to come out. It didn’t turn out completely perfect. It was early in the morning (before school). We didn’t have enough time to section out the hair enough to get the braid to her scalp and all the way to the end. So there were some flat areas but that’s okay.

In the end, it all worked out. Her makeup was cute and not too much. Her hair turned out just fine. Most importantly, she was happy with it and that made me happy. After all, it was her birthday.

She was happy with her complete look. The pants didn’t get taken in as much as I had hoped they would. At least they were taken in enough to stay up. When she first put them on, they fell down. We knew what we were getting into when we ordered the bigger size. It was worth the sacrifice to her. I thought she looked beautiful. We were both very satisfied with BuyCostumes.com and will definitely do business with them again.

  1. It’s an amazing post in support of all the internet users; they will take benefit from it I am
    sure.

  2. It’s very easy to find out any matter on web as compareed to textbooks,
as I found this post at this web site.

  3. She rocked it! I remember braiding my hair in small braids to crimp it without a crimper til I finally got one lol

    • I remember doing that too! Then I got a crimper and had it for many, many years. It just sat there for so long that I finally decided to get rid of it when we moved. Of course, I would end up wishing I had it – that is just the way things go.

  4. oh my goodness – too cute! I want to go as this for Halloween next year :)

  5. What is scary is that I had friends dressing like that in the 80s!

  6. LOVE how you did the hair! My daughter wanted that costume before she saw the gothic prom queen lol. She looks adorable!
