Our family is big on technology. We all have our likes. Two of them are music and shows. My daughter likes to get a little Disney action here and there. My toddler loves watching tractors, motorcycles and monster trucks on YouTube. Sometimes we all don’t want to share those experiences with them. That’s when headphones save the day.

JLab Audio came out with headphones for kids. They call them JBuddies. They are designed for children ages 2+. When you purchase them, you will receive the JBuddies headphones, four different set of theme stickers to suit your child’s personality, a carrying case and a card to download up to 20 free songs from emusic.com. They come in black, purple, pink or blue.

There are different sets of theme stickers. As you can see in the first picture, we received a pair of JBuddies for my son and daughter. So one set of stickers were geared towards a boy and the other a girl. They are also holograms and that adds a little extra fun.

The stickers are super easy to place on the outside of the ear piece. Your child can have two the same or two different ones – whatever floats their boat. We have come to realize they can also be changed out. Our son decided on the robots. He loves robots.

They have a built in volume limiter to ensure a safe experience without all the extra cables or wires. I really like this feature because my son is only three and doesn’t know the safe volume limit. It’s nice to know that he is not going to get his ear drums blown out. I also really love the carrying case it comes with. That eliminates the chance of the cord being sucked up by the vacuum and other tragedies like that.

I just realized I have no pictures of my daughter with her JBuddies. I will have to add one at a later time. Anyway, the ultimate feature (in my opinion) is the durability of these headphones. They are amazingly strong. My son is slightly wild. I will admit, I caught him doing destructive things with his headphones. A few times, he tied the end with the plug to the handlebar of his Big Wheel and dragged the headphones around the house. Sounds bad, huh? The headphones survived!!! That is quality if you ask me. I highly recommend JBuddies for your children.
Be sure to like JLab Audio on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to stay up to date on the latest news, promotions and contests! You can purchase JBuddies from Amazon. Also, be sure to enter to win a pair during the Ringin’ in the New Year Giveaway Hop (ends January 13, 2012)

Any chance you still have the packaging or the manual included with the headphones. I have been digging around on google trying to find the actual specs on these headphones and have found nada.
What I’m looking for is:
Driver Diameter (usually in mm, e.g. 40mm)
Impedance (resistance) – measured in ohms – should be something like 16ohms, 24ohms, 32ohms, 64ohms, etc.
% THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) – usually measured at 1watt / 1meter and would be something like .01 THD.
Frequency response, usually something like 8Hz to 20kHz.
It’s great that these have a volume limiter, but limiting to 80% or 90% of a devices max volume is still a function of the impedance of the speakers. In addition, if these headphones have a published THD higher than .01, the distortion, even with the volume limited, is still not healthy for young ears at such close a range.
I’ve contacted JLab directly via their website, and twitter, and heard nothing. I am hoping you can help.
Thanks.

I love that they have a volume limiter. I’d love to get headphones for my son but the whole volume thing has been a worry of mine. He has a leappad that he plays with and sometimes I don’t feel like hearing it.

How neat! I love the volume control that they come with. Now that my 4 year old has discovered that he can watch episodes of Ninjago on YouTube any time he wants – something like this would come very handy, especially on extended car trips! Thanks for the great review!
