When you have kids (especially more than one), some days can get kind of crazy with all the varying schedules. As a parent, it can also make for a busy day. A good, healthy on the go breakfast is a smart thing to have in your cupboard for those mornings when you just don’t have the time to cook anything. You can even take advantage of on the go meals if you have simply run out of milk.

We have busy mornings often in our house. During the week there is work and school. On the weekends, there is work, Girl Scouts, band practice and playtime (yes, the toddler needs attention too). Not to mention, we are a full house of non-morning people. Mornings just are not our thing. So the easier we can make them, the better. In order to make sure we were ready for such mornings, we headed to my favorite Safeway store to grab some on the go breakfast essentials (see my complete shopping trip on Google+).

While at Safeway, I picked up a variety of products to choose from. With three children and two adults, we need variety. I chose Gevalia Vanilla Coffee. My hubby and I love coffee. There were so many flavors to choose from and, of course, I stayed within my comfort zone. Nature Valley Granola Bars have always been a hit around here. We usually just buy the Oats ‘n Honey but I wanted more to choose from so I bought the variety pack. Then I saw the Roasted Almond and I love almonds.
Let’s talk about these belVita Breakfast Biscuits. They are not your traditional biscuit, obviously. They have no high fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils and no artificial flavors or colors. They provide some healthy, sustained energy. The carbohydrates from the grain are slowly released, giving you energy throughout the day. Think natural energy, it’s not like drinking caffeine – completely okay for the kiddos.
My nine year old daughter is a Girl Scout and has places to be at times. Right now it’s cookie selling season so she has been a busy girl for the last month or so. As I mentioned above, we are not fond of the mornings, so on the weekends we like to sleep in a bit. Some days she starts selling at 9:00 am with her troop at the store. On those mornings, a quick breakfast sure does come in handy. She is just like her mama and loves the Nature’s Valley Granola Bars.

Seriously, these belVita Breakfast Biscuits are so good. I’m not sure how I have never tried them before. Honestly, I have seen them but I always thought they were some healthy option for older people. I know, I know… I need to stop assuming those type of things because look what I have been missing out on. My kids chose the Cinnamon Brown Sugar to try on this morning.
Our toddler is a wild one. My nine year old was still opening hers up and my son just chomped right in. These things are pretty amazing. In one box, you get five packages. That might not sound like a lot but there are four biscuits in each package! They are pretty filling too. My kids couldn’t even finish a whole package. They could only eat two. Next time, we’ll start by having them split a pack. I thought the individual sized orange juice was a perfect pairing for an on the go breakfast.
If you are wondering how an on the go breakfast does with adults, it’s approved. My hubby chose the Golden Oat belVita Breakfast Biscuits along with a cup of the Gevalia Vanilla Coffee. He ate them plain and dipped them in his coffee. I opened a package of the Cinnamon Brown Sugar belVita Breakfast Biscuits and switched him two for two. They were even filling for us (even though we ate the whole package versus half like the kids).
On the go breakfast’s can be fun. Technically, you don’t have to be on the go to enjoy a simple, quick and healthy breakfast. These options are great to have around for those mornings when you run out of milk or maybe mom and dad want to sleep in. The kids still have to eat. They are very affordable to keep on hand. If you haven’t tried something like this out, go for it! What do you have to lose?

I’ve looked at those because I usually eat breakfast on my way home from the gym. These sound good for my post workout. Thanks for the review.

I saw those breakfast biscuits the last time we were at Vons and wasn’t sure about them. Now I want to pick up a box for the kids!
