Focusing on Motivation during My Shaklee 180 Program (Month 2 Update)

I’m a little late at getting my second month update of the Shaklee 180 program posted. I’ve been out of town at a conference for a few days. Hopefully, you’ve watched my video about my second month. This month I have been reflecting on my motivation. You can hear a little bit about that in my video but let me share with you all the other stuff I didn’t mention. 

Many years ago, I was thin. Thin enough to have a pair of pants that were size 11 and hung off my hips. I’ll share one of the only pictures I have of those pants below. You can’t really see my pants but you can see my figure and it looks nothing like that now. At this point, I had one child. He had just turned five years old in this picture and we were on a kindergarten class field trip to the pumpkin patch. The focus is my son but you can still see my hot body in the background.

Looking at that picture absolutely disgusts me. What the hell did I do? How did I let my body get like it is? There really is no excuse. So what that I have three kids. My youngest will be four in November. Seeing this picture and showing it to you all really has an effect on me. It shows me that there is a figure underneath all of this blubber. I’m going to find an old picture for every update post from now on. My daughter wears a shirt that I wore in 2004! So that was almost ten years ago. BUT I had two kids. My age shouldn’t matter. I’m tired of making excuses for myself. I need come up with a plan and execute it. Sharing that picture with you brings tears to my eyes. 

I have always been a giver. I tend to do things for other people rather than myself. When it comes to me, I don’t take care of myself because I’m too busy doing things and taking care of others. When I have time for myself, I either relax or work. I need to come up with a plan to make time for my health and exercise – not just occasionally but consistently. I mentioned in the video getting healthy and fit for my kids and my man. Maybe I need to be in that frame of mind. B

Let’s talk motivation. That picture up there is motivation. I’m going to list some of my motivators. I might forget something so feel free to comment with your motivators. Here they go:

  • My kids – I want them to see me live healthy and be active. I also want more energy to keep up with them. 
  • My man – my sexy needs to come back. He’s hot. I secretly want to be his trophy.
  • My health – there are so many health issues in my family. I need to be proactive and try to keep them away. 
  • New wardrobe – my ‘fat’ clothes suck. I don’t want to buy more of them. But I’ll be new, skinny ones. 
  • Better sex life – the better you feel about you, the better your sex life is. I want to turn the lights on again.

I’m sure there are many more things that motivate me but these are some key motivators that I really need to keep in mind. These are what will keep me going, in the end. Hopefully, by the time I have completed the Shaklee 180 program, I will be able to say I can keep up with my kids, I feel sexy next to my man, I’m staying healthy, I have some new clothes and the lights are on! 

Remember how I was disappointed with last months results? This month is not any better. I only lost one pound; however, I did lose three total inches. Although I didn’t lose more, I’m thankful I didn’t gain any. This month has already started. I’m really wanting to finish up my third month with at least a five pound weight loss. Keep your fingers crossed!

    I am not doing any programs but since April 1st I have lost 22.6 pounds. I gave up sodas :) that was my biggest problems and I am drinking tons of water….I swear it really does help. I also go to Curves gym MWF and at home I am doing the 200 sit up program. Trying to cut out stress in my life and that has helped as well. You have to stay positive and motivated. Think about what you are eating and how much you are actually eating. I didn’t eat that bad before I started my weight loss journey and I still splurge every now and then since I am human :) but I am definitely not eating as much as I was before. If I can do it then You can do it :)

    • Cutting out sodas will definitely help! I’ll have a treadmill once I get back from my trip. So I’m hoping that will help get me moving. You are doing great! Keep it up. I can’t wait to hear you say that you have lost it all!

  3. I signed up for this program and they didnt pick me: oh well. It is nice to have a program, but we dont have a program in life. Lost 4.4 last week. How? Eating egg whites and veggies, NO sugar. No carbs. You CAN do it, and you can do it on your own! Eat healthy, workout workout workout. Walk everywhere…run if you can. Pick heavy things up over and over. Its the exercise with weights that will burn the fat!! YOU will get in those pants!! But dont strive for an 11, that’s a junior size. Go for a 10 or 12!!

    • Yeah, I’m not going to strive for an 11. That was just an example. I think a 12 would be great! I’m curious if my child bearing hips will fit in a 12 even with all the extra weight gone. We shall see. Good job on doing it for you. That’s awesome!
