I’m excited about this Fashionista Event opportunity because one thing I’m working on this Spring (starting February 1st actually) is my self-image. I don’t think poorly of myself but I miss the old me. The me that felt confident with whatever it was I decided to wear. It’s time to bring my sexy back! My first step is to add a little pizzazz to my wardrobe. That is exactly what Monroe and Main can help me out with.
My first new outfit of the Spring just so happens to be this amazingly fashionable “Knot Your Mother’s Dress” from Monroe and Main. It’s the perfect piece to add in the closet for an all year round dress. The dress comes in five different colors that include black, cherry, orange, yellow and lime. How do you even choose? One of each maybe?
The dress was true quality right out of the package. I love that it is made of Rayon/Spandex. It gives it that light feel but not light enough to feel cheap. The seams and gatherings were done with perfection. It might sound silly but you don’t know how many times I have noticed flaws and imperfections after getting a piece of clothing home.
My body is not up to par these days so finding that “just right” fit isn’t always easy – especially with dresses. It’s really difficult to find flattering dresses but the Knot Your Mother’s Dress is absolutely flattering! The empire waist takes the attention away from those areas that I’d rather drop off and never look back. The full length skirt is just right to hide the not so perfect parts of my legs (okay, fine, my thighs) that I’m not crazy about.
All of that will change soon. I’m working on me, remember? While I’m in that process, it’s still important for me to have something to feel like a sexy woman in, something that I can wear when I have “nothing to wear.” Something that when my man sees me in it, he will say, “damn, she is mine.” Okay, he does that anyway but you get what I mean.
As you can see, I chose the black dress. First, I dressed it up a bit with some red heels, a red phone clutch and some blingy accessories. I thought a chunky baubles necklace gave it some character. But it wasn’t shiny enough so I added disco ball earrings and some rhinestone bracelets. Oh… and, I don’t normally wear red lipstick but it was necessary. *Confession: The rose was strategically placed because… well, this is a family friendly site. 😉
Of course, there are times when you just can’t wear those red heels. The Knot Your Mother’s Dress is perfect for a casual affair. I simply switched out the red heels for black (which are the most comfortable pair of heels I own), added a light cardigan to the outfit and my Victoria’s Secret handbag.
Even though I was keeping it casual, accessories are still a must. I added a sapphire necklace, earrings and ring that my man got me during his trip to DC a couple years ago. All my bracelets were too blingy (that means I must go shopping) but I thought the watch was a nice addition. I also toned down the lipstick a bit.
In my quest to find that “perfect shot” (which I may never have found), I realized it is so important to have fun and laugh
a little a lot. We took over 300 pictures during this impromptu (and very amateur) photo shoot. We laughed and it was FUN! I think this could end up being quite a confidence booster on my journey. How does a photo shoot a month sound?
Okay, so I really have nothing to say about this picture. I just wanted to add it because it’s fun. I think I need more clothes to go take pictures in now. Wait ’til I get my sexy back… I might do this every day!
