Winter is the hardest time of the year to maintain a healthy lifestyle (not that I’m the greatest spokesperson for living healthy). It’s cold and rainy outside. I don’t know about you but I prefer to not attempt exercise in the rain. On top of that, Winter weather makes me want to be in the house and eat. There are so many things I can be doing to stay healthy during the Winter months and I decided to incorporate natural probiotics into that equation.
What is this amazing equation I speak of? Well, it’s nothing fabulous BUT, if you are anything like me, it has to be simple and realistic. Although I don’t like to admit it, I’m lazy. I try not to be. So far, I have only been practicing minimal exercise and taking an Insync Natural Probiotic everyday. I was going to start expanding my plan in February; however, life got crazy and I had to put my family first.
So here it is, I’m going to share with you my plan. When everything aligns, this will be happening in my life. I hope I take the plunge sooner than later. Once I begin, I plan to blog my journey because I know I’m not the only one that struggles.
Working from home, it’s so easy to sit on my rear end all day long with little to no activity throughout the day. I’ve been walking for at least 30 minutes a day since March 1st. This may not seem like a lot but it’s a start. Even with the cold, rainy Winter months, I can do this in the comfort of my home on my Smooth Fitness treadmill. It truly is a lifesaver.
At some point, I hope to step up my game a bit. I want to run (or even jog) in my first marathon. I want start getting in the routine of some other exercise on top of cardio. We have a Nautilus Home Gym that I would like to start utilizing and strengthen my muscles.
This is something that is SO hard for me. It’s hard for many reasons. I love food. I mostly love food that is not good for me. Then there is my family. They are picky eaters. But I know if I don’t change, neither will they. Then there is convenience. We are busy people and sometimes convenience outweighs health, even though it should not.
Portion control is something I have been working on. Rather than having a huge plate of food to make me miserable, I have a smaller plate. I’m also trying to make healthier choices and find different things that I never knew I would like. Recently, I added crunchy granola to the top of my cooked oatmeal and it was delicious!
I’ve never really been one to take vitamins or dietary supplements. I have always been horrible at remembering to take daily pills. That’s one reason I was never good at birth control pills. With my thyroid disease, I have to take a pill every single morning. If I don’t, I feel like death after a while. So I have learned that taking pills daily can be beneficial and, sometimes, very important for your health and well being.
I have friends that swear by probiotics. So I ventured out and decided to try out Insync Natural Probiotics. They contain six natural probiotics, B. infantis’ (recommended by gastroenterologists) and they gradually release. One thing I really struggle with is bowel regularity. So, when I read that Insync natural probiotics helps promote digestive system balance, that sold me right there.
It’s been about two weeks since I have been taking Insync daily and I can definitely tell a difference. It has definitely made a difference in my regularity. I feel good about my decision. I’m not sure if it’s in my head or not but I feel like I have more energy in general.
Once I’m on board with my plan, it will be time to recruit the others. For us to succeed, I think it needs to be a team effort. It will start with me, then I’m sure my fiance will join in. We’ll be role models and the kids will want to be next – or let’s just hope so.
With our little guy starting Kindergarten next year, I think probiotics might be a good choice for him. That will be two kids in public schools bringing home germs. We need to strengthen our immune systems. We can do just that by taking natural probiotics.
