Technology and gaming are kind of a big deal in our house, for both us and the kids. We feel that it is important for our kids to be exposed to all sorts of technology as they grow up – it’s going to benefit them in the long run. Our kids love to play (and learn) on the computer. They enjoy visiting sites like ABCMouse.com and Animal Jam. They also absolutely love MineCraft. What kid doesn’t love MineCraft these days? There’s only one problem – the kids need their own laptop.
Although we have one for our business (and maybe a little Sims), we don’t let the kids use it. So I checked out some affordable laptops that the entire family could use. I turned to Best Buy because, well, that’s the only place we buy our electronics. We love that we can shop online then pickup in the store. If we don’t have time, there’s free shipping on all orders $35 or more. Plus, in the event that it needs to be returned or exchanged, there is no re-boxing fee.
After comparing a few different models, I really love the HP ENVY TouchSmart Laptop. This isn’t just any laptop – it’s the AMD FX Special Edition. What does that mean? This laptop is equipped with one of AMD’s most powerful mobile processors. This will provide a very smooth experience while playing games and watching movies. If you have ever tried to play a game with a low quality processor, you know how important this is.
If you use a tablet, I’m sure you’ll love the TouchSmart feature of this HP ENVY Laptop. Personally, I always attempt to touch computer screens just to remember it’s not touchable. With the Quick AMD FX series processor, you’ll be able to do everything you need from managing your email, gaming, watching videos and everything in between with the touch of your finger.
Why is this a Special Edition? First off, this specific HP ENVY TouchSmart Laptop is only available at Best Buy. Also, this laptop is powered by AMD’s revolutionary APU (single accelerated processing unit). Basically, AMD took 4 CPU’s and put them together with 6 GPU’s to share workloads and share the same memory. Why is this revolutionary? Generally, CPU’s and GPU’s didn’t speak the same language; however, AMD allowed this to happen and the ACU was born. The video below explains it much better, I’m sure.
