California Wine Club: Wine Delivered to Your Door

The California Wine Club has been in business for 20 years! There are so many small, family owned wineries that produce amazing wine and never make it to the store shelves. This is what became the focus of The California Wine Club. They traveled to different wineries, met the owners and tasted the wines. Then set out to offer this amazing service!

There are four different wine packages to choose from. They have the Premier Club which is their most popular. This package provides two bottles of wine per month and a publication of Uncorked. There is the Signature Series which is perfect for collectors and connoisseurs. With this package they provide two to four bottles of rare wines per month. This membership is limited to 800 people. The next package is the International Selections which is from small "mom & pop" wineries around the world. It comes with two bottles of wine and an information newsletter highlighting the country where the wine was originated from. Lastly, there is the Aged Cabernet Series which is Napa’s most prestigious Cabernets aged 8-12 years. This package comes with two bottles of wine (aged 8-12 years), detailed tasting notes and three day delivery.

Our first shipment included two bottles of Robledo wine. One was a 2009 Napa Valley Tempranillo red wine. The other was a 2008 Lake County Sauvignon Blanc white wine. I’m going to be honest. I do not know an extremely lot about wine. I was excited to try out some new wines because we really don’t know how to shop for it.

We first tried the Tempranillo red wine. This wine smelled of berries, cinnamon and spices. The flavor is that of dried black fruit, toasted cedar and tobacco mingle. It was very acidic but in a good way. Tempranillo is good with grilled meat, vegetables and pizza. My hubby enjoyed it. I liked the taste and it was good; however, I prefer chilled wine. I added some ice cubes and it was fine.

We then tried the Souvignon Blanc white wine. This wine has the aromas of mango and honeysuckle. It has a citrus taste with a mix of green tea and lemongrass. We waited a while for this to be chilled in the fridge before trying. I was excited to try this one because it was chilled and that is how I like it. This Sauvignon Blanc is good paired with seafood and salads.

Overall, our experience with The California Wine Club has been great! The delivery came promptly and secured properly to ensure the wine gets to you in one piece. A subscription to The California Wine Club would make a great holiday gift!
