My weight is something I have been struggling with for years. Chances are, I’m probably not alone. It’s been one of my New Year’s Resolutions a lot more than once. I have tried numerous diets but have a hard time sticking to them for various reasons. The Zone Diet is designed to reverse cellular inflammation by maintaining the inflammatory hormones generated by the food we eat within a zone that is not high, but not too low. The Zone Diet recommends that you simply divide your plate at every meal into three equal sections.

• On one-third of the plate put some low-fat protein that is no bigger or thicker than the palm of your hand.
• Then fill the other two-thirds of the plate with color carbohydrates (vegetables and fruits). Finally add a dash (that’s a small amount) of fat that is low in omega-6 and saturated fats such as olive oil.

For my review, I was provided the Zone 1-2-3 Foods Standard Program (now the Zone Custom Program). The provided me with great tools for success and a variety of food options. The yummy food options included bagels, breads, granolas, rolls, flatbread, pasta, pizza crust, cookies, nougat bars and pretzels. The foods were delicious. My favorite was the garlic bagels (they even allow you to use light cream cheese – which is a must for me).

The biggest advantage of the Zone Diet for me was the decrease of my hunger. A week is not typically long enough for me to see true results. The first week, I tend to lose more pounds anyway. I’m sure it’s the cutting out soda, sugars, etc. The Zone Diet is definitely something I would consider picking back up in the future. If you are looking for yummy foods that fill you up, this is a great option!

When it comes to dinner, we are always trying to figure out what we are going to cook last minute. We are so bad about figuring it out ahead of time and actually creating a plan. Going to the store last minute has happened far too many times then we still have to come home and cook the food. Bertolli has come up with a solution (a quick one at that). So whether you planned or not, it’s a win/win kind of situation.

Within one hour, I went to the store, chose a Bertolli Meal kit, cooked it, set up a quaint little area to eat AND cleaned the kitchen – no joke. While I was at the store, it was a little difficult to choose which soup kit to get because they all looked delicious. I live in a small town with only one grocery store so there were only three available meals (they didn’t carry the soup kits) including Shrimp Scampi & Linguine, Italian Sausage & Rigatoni and Chicken Alfredo & Penne.

I chose the Italian Sausage & Rigatoni. At first, I was thinking I made the wrong choice because it said ‘spicy.’ My husband and I love spicy but the little ones, not so much. I was very pleased with the flavor. It was spicy enough for us to enjoy, yet not too spicy to where the kids could eat it. The bag said it was enough for two; however, we managed to feed five with two bags. I would definitely recommend Bertolli Meal kits (and I’m sure the soups are just as yummy!) – especially for those nights when you just need to eat quick!
