Refreshing My Picture Frames with Walgreens Mobile App was Easy & Fun!

Walgreens has always been somewhere I shop at for the great deals and unique products they carry. Now Walgreens has two great things going for them. They have their Balance Rewards program and a mobile app. Don’t worry, I will tell you about both. First, let me tell you about my lack of motivation for filling my picture frames with photographs.

This isn’t anything new. I have always been this way. There was a time when I had a few pictures up. Then I moved to a bigger apartment and nothing really went up besides a couple of canvas like paintings. For 13 years, I lived in an apartment. About a year before we moved, I was given a set of picture frames consisting of ten frames that were different sizes. They sat in the box. We moved two years ago into the house we live in now. They came with us – in the box. About a year ago, we took them out of the box and hung them on the wall.

Yes, we hung them on the wall – that was it. They hang there with no pictures in them. Well, they have pictures in them but those corny ones that they come with. So you will notice that a couple of the frames actually have the same exact picture in them. At least they are of trees rather than people I don’t know. I really love this frame set and had every intention putting it to use.

When I found out about Walgreens mobile app I was excited about all the features. There is even a photo section on the app. It really is quite simple. Trust me, this is my first time using the photo feature and I’m in love. You can download the app from Google Play, the Apple App store and even for Blackberry. Once you open up the app, you click on the photo option and all the options are displayed. You can access the photos in your phone’s albums, from Facebook or Instagram. You can also choose to create a PrintWorthy Card or get posters printed. Once you choose, all your photos from that album will be displayed (my Instagram album is shown to the far right).

Choosing the pictures you want to get printed is the hard part. Once you get that out of the way, the process gets even easier. You choose the size you would like and the quantity of each. After that, the app prompts you to choose which Walgreens you would like to pick your prints up at. Lastly, it will tell you the total (minus tax) and the estimated pick up time. In my case, it was only one hour! That’s pretty speedy.

There is only one thing that could be better. When you choose prints to order, you can’t get multiple pictures of different sizes. So you actually have to group the pictures you order by size. When I went to pick mine up, there were seven orders. It’s a little time consuming and repetitive; however, it’s definitely not a deal breaker. If that is the only thing wrong, they’re doing pretty good. I’m hoping one day they’ll come up with a solution for that.

Once you are finished ordering the prints that you chose, you simply visit Walgreens and pick up your prints. While you are ordering your photos, when you are checking out, there is a spot for you to put in a coupon code. Luckily, I found a code on their website for 40% off of my photo order! Score! My prints were done in only one hour. They send you an email to confirm your order and another when your order is ready for pickup.

While I was at Walgreens picking up my photos, I noticed the nice selection of picture frames. I just so happened to order some extra 4×6 photos. I decided to grab some frames for a couple of nice gifts. I scored again because most of their frames were buy one, get one free through the end of the month. I bought enough pictures to refresh my picture frame set and three new frames for less than $20.

Two of the frames I bought as gifts are shown above. The left one is a picture of my hubby, his sister and our son at her graduation from a vocational class she took. Although our son got cut off a little by the frame, it’s still a great picture. I gave it to my Sister in Law tonight and she loved it. The framed picture of the right is my son and my hubby. You will see later that I also chose this picture to fill one of my frames. It’s a very sweet picture. I can’t wait to give it to my Mother in Law in a couple of days.

My third gift I picked up at Walgreens was this simple picture frame for my nine year old daughter, Briana. Inside of the frame is a picture of her and her best friend while they were at Girl Scout camp last year. They were bunk mates and had a lot of fun. She was excited. I’m thinking about getting another copy printed and another frame that way she can give one to her friend. Now, we’ll get to what you have been waiting for.

Here is my collage of picture frames after I refreshed them. It was extremely difficult to get a good picture with all the glares. Out of many, this was the best one I could get. There are some great memories on this wall. You’ll notice the 11×14 frame is empty. Although I can order poster prints at my local Walgreens, they take about a week to get in. Anything over an 8×10 is considered a poster. I didn’t want to wait a week so tomorrow I’m driving about 20 miles to pick it up at another nearby Walgreens. I will update this post with the finished result and maybe I can get a better picture.

This was my first time using the Walgreens app to order photo prints. This was an easy process and I can’t believe I haven’t done this sooner. My hubby will be excited to consistently see pictures rotated through our set of frames. My daughter feels their St. Patrick’s Day picture can’t stay up year round so that one might have to be the first to get switched. This was a lot of fun and easy. I’m excited to continue using the app. It’s very affordable. I highly recommend downloading the app!

Last but definitely not least, there’s Walgreens Balance Rewards program. There are great deals that you can receive when having this nifty savings card. It’s free to sign up. You get points and you can redeem them for cash rewards. This card is how I got my picture frames at buy one, get one free. Once you sign up, you’ll get a regular sized card for your wallet and a smaller one to attach to a keychain. Watch the video below to find out more.
