My Luxurious Stay at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, CA #DisneyOzEvent #LanghamPasadena

Over the past month, I have been sharing my trip to Los Angeles with you. From Oz the Great and Powerful red carpet to the Wreck-It Ralph press day at Disney Animation Studios to the interviews with the cast – you’ve read them all. Now it’s time to share with you my lovely place of abiding for the three days and two nights I was there. We stayed at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena, California.

The Langham Huntington, Pasadena is an iconic landmark that is only minutes from downtown Los Angeles. It sits on 23 acres and has plenty of room for anything really. There are 380 guest rooms that include suites, cottages, two bedroom/two story suites atop the hotel and club level rooms with upgraded amenities. When staying in a guest room, you can expect two daily housekeeping visits, an in-room safe, dual-line telephones (yes, there is one by the toilet), laundry service, 24-hour in-room dining, complimentary high-speed internet, an honor bar and much more.. That is some major spoilage going on!

Could you imagine pulling up to a hotel and seeing this? I never dreamed that I would stay somewhere so amazingly beautiful. There are so many perks of The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. They have three lighted tennis courts and an on-site pro, bicycle rentals are available, gift shop and florist, fitness center, airline ticket kiosk, valet parking and complimentary transport services to select Pasadena locations. They also have more than 50,000 square feet of meeting and event space!

Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to check out their spa services but they do sound pretty phenomenal. They have a full service, 11,000 square foot spa with 13 treatment rooms including one couple’s suite. They have a selection of massage therapies, facials and body treatments. They also have traditional Chinese Medicine that includes acupressure, acupuncture and cupping. Their full salon offers makeup application, manicure, pedicure and hair services. That’s not all. They also have eucalyptus steam rooms, dry saunas, whirlpools, fitness center and even fitness classes.

I was scheduled to arrive a couple of hours early so I called and arranged for early check in which was easy. When I first walked into my room, I was greeted with this lovely setup. It included truffles, chocolate, delicious sparkling pink lemonade and a personalized welcome letter. By the way, the brown square that says welcome… that’s all chocolate! This was very sweet and inviting. It was laid out on the desk that is a great addition to the room, especially if you have work to get done. There are plenty of electrical outlets around and adequate lighting.

When I looked at this bed, all I could think was, "Do I really have this spacious bed all to myself for two nights?" Our three year old still co-sleeps with my hubby and I in a queen size bed; therefore, I get a little sliver of the bed each night. The first night, I accidentally slept with the body pillow under my head. The second night I caught on and slept with a regular pillow. The Langham Huntington, Pasadena provides you with frette linens, goose down pillows and featherbeds. Even with all the excitement, I almost didn’t want to get out of bed in the mornings.

Knowing we were going to be busy out and about, I was worried about having time to grab a snack or two for later. That wasn’t a problem. The guest rooms at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena come equipped with an honor bar that included anything I could probably want. There was water, soda, juice, Gatorade, beer, wine, spirits, energy drinks, mints, granola bars, candy and even chips. I’m not much of a drinker so I had a couple of Diet Cokes and a water. Whether you want something sweet or salty, they have it and something to wash it down with too!

One place I was going to be spending a good amount of time in was the bathroom. There wasn’t much down time during the trip. When I was in my room, I was either sleeping or getting ready. I loved the mirrors in the bathroom. There was the big one over the sink, the magnifying one that stretched out from the wall and a full body mirror behind the door. There was plenty of counter space for all my hair and makeup accessories. The shower was spacious enough (I love the bowed shower curtain rods). The Langham Huntington, Pasadena provided plenty of towels of four different sizes, plush terry bathrobes and Langham signature Chuan bath amenities. If you forget something at home while staying here, I’m sure they have it.

Our trip took place from February 13-15, 2013. This was the first Valentine’s Day I wasn’t with my kids. Luckily, I was in good company. Several other bloggers and I had dinner with our Disney representative (and friend), Marshall. Our dinner was from The Terrace Restaurant which is inside The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. I had a mouth watering filet mignon with mashed potatoes and broccoli. There was also asparagus and mushrooms added that isn’t shown in the picture.

This isn’t the only restaurant they offer. There is The Royce which features New American cuisine, two wine rooms, a glass enclosed veranda and an exclusive chef’s table. There is The Lobby Lounge that offers Langham Tiffin Afternoon Tea Thursday through Saturday and Chocolate Afternoon Tea on Sunday. The Tap Room serves classic and modern handmade cocktails, a unique wine selection, premium beers on tap from around the world and upscale bar bites. I wish I could have eaten at all of them.

After my tasty Valentine’s Day dinner, I headed back up to my room to relax for a bit before heading to bed. I had kind of a sweet tooth, I felt like I was on vacation so I decided to take advantage of room service for some dessert. I can’t remember exactly what everything was called; however, I couldn’t decide between the two so I got both! One was a chocolate croissant bread pudding. The other was creme brulee. They were served with a bourbon vanilla ice cream. It was all very satisfying. My favorite was the creme brulee. I always get creme brulee lattes and coffee creamer; however, I had never tried an actual creme brulee dessert. It was very much worth it! I may or may not have finished all this – we’ll leave it up to the imagination.

On our last day at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, we were given a small tour of the property. It’s so big I’m slightly glad they didn’t have us walk the whole thing – 23 acres is pretty huge. This is the Viennese Ballroom. There were high ceilings with gorgeous chandeliers hanging down. All the entrance doors looked magnificent. If you watch The Bachelorette, you might recognize this. The Viennese Ballroom is where Ashley and J.P.’s wedding reception took place on December 1, 2012. I’m not familiar with the show; however, it’s still a pretty big deal. This was also where Clint Eastwood’s Flags of our Fathers was filmed in 2006.

After walking around inside for a while, we moved to touring the exterior of The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. This is the Horseshoe Garden. This was once the home of a miniature golf course. I can see that (sort of) – it’s so amazingly beautiful now as a garden. It’s a popular garden for parties, weddings and galas for over 100 years! This was where The Bachelorette Ashley and J.P. had their wedding ceremony in December of 2012. The garden has also been featured in films such as Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 and Seabiscuit. The red bridge (that is circled) is a popular photo backdrop.

The Langham Huntington, Pasadena has so much to offer. This pool was the first Olympic sized pool in California. It was once under a walking bridge; however it was shortened to prevent youngsters from jumping off the bridge into the pool. This pool has provided much entertainment over the years such as water sports and fashion shows. It has also been a filming site for movies like Disney’s The Parent Trap in 1998 and Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3.

In the upper right hand corner, you will see the pond that sits in the courtyard. There is a family of ducks that visit each Spring. This garden courtyard was the location of Desperate Housewives’ Marcia Cross’ wedding. There is also an antique railroad bell that a special guest rings every evening at 7:05 pm to mark the change of day. Then you will see a simple outside view of the building. It’s really like a palace.

While we were staying at The Langham Huntington Pasadena, so was Rachel Weisz who plays Evanora in Oz the Great and Powerful. After our behind the scenes of Wreck It Ralph day, we gathered here to hold an Oz movie reception. We were able to get up close and personal with the Oz hot air balloon and even see a magician perform. This was also the location that we interview the cast of the movie. I’m pretty sure I could live here if they would let me.

Even though the lighting is slightly drowning out my face (but that might not be such a bad thing), I wanted to share the boldness of this balloon with you. Staying at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena was an experience I’ll never forget. Everything about this hotel is classy and elegant. Be sure you follow them on Twitter and like them on Facebook to see the magnificence of what they have to offer. One day, I hope to visit again with my family.

Although I was provided an all expense paid trip by Disney, all thoughts and opinions expressed are those of my own. The entire trip was an amazing experience and I genuinely love The Langham Huntington, Pasadena..

  1. I love this hotel SO much! You covered perfectly and thoroughly all of the great details about it. I would have loved to try all of the restaurants there, too. But it looks like with the meals and desserts you had, you made some great choices. I still dream of that sparkling pink lemonade! I must go and have some more. Langham really knows how to make their guest feel more at home than they feel at home, if that makes sense. 🙂

  2. WOW, I loved reading your blog.. Loved living Pasadena through your eyes 🙂

  3. Wow! What an amazing experience! I would love to get away and stay in a place like that! And if i did, i would never want to leave!

  4. That is a beautiful hotel. It is seriously breathtaking.

  5. Wow! I don’t think I would ever leave the hotel if I stayed there!

  6. What an amazing hotel! I love that it’s been around so long and has such a history. I’d be in heaven with those restaurants and the garden!
