Coffee is my best friend. Not just any coffee but the kind with amazing flavor. I love visiting coffee shops for a good coffee, latte, cappuccino or just about anything that contains caffeine. One of my favorite drinks is frozen or blended coffee, mostly referred to as the “frappuccino.” Generally, I keep my coffee at home to a minimum and don’t get too fancy. I’m big on coffee creamers. Two of my favorites are French Vanilla and Peppermint Mocha. This time I decided to step outside the box.
I’m a big fan of Nestle Coffee-mate creamers. I have tried quite a few. I have never tried Hazelnut though. I like nuts (maybe even Hazelnuts, I’m not sure). It’s just not a flavor that has ever appealed to me enough to purchase it. You only live once so I set out to make my own version of a Frappuccino (aka a milkshake). The ingredients are so simple – vanilla ice cream, whipped topping and Nestle Coffee-mate Hazelnut creamer. It’s really that simple. I used about four cups of ice cream and two cups of creamer. Then I topped it with the whipped cream and sprinkled red and green chocolate chips on the top.
I’ll be honest, I was a little worried about the kids liking them. At first, all my son wanted to do was dig the chocolate chips out of the whipped cream. It was cute so I let him.
In the end, they loved it! My daughter doesn’t care for nuts so I was surprised that she enjoyed it. I was for sure that she was going to take a sip and put it down. She drank the whole cup. My son loves nuts but he doesn’t care for ice cream (believe it or not) and he almost drank the whole thing! My milkshake mockery of a frappuccino was successful. Really… the only difference is I didn’t add ice.
